Asians
to the World recognizes Community Development as the most
creative long-term solution to the problems of poverty among
the grassroots and church-based efforts. This conviction is
motivated by Zechariah 7: 9-10 where God commands to:
"Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to
one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the
alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each
other.".
The community development
AttWorld adheres to the following principles:
Identification and maximized utilization of the resources
available in every community. AttWorld believes there
is a wealth of talents, abilities and skills in every community
that awaits discovery and utilization. AttWorld recognizes
the maximization of these human potentials and encourages
community meetings that aim to uncover and develop these various
talents, skills and abilities through training so that these
human potentials may be used towards the general good of the
community.
Community participation and collaborative efforts are vital
factors in any effective community development endeavor.
AttWorld believes that advocates of community development
must work hand and hand with members of the community and
other social institutions (i.e., government etc.) and vice
versa for a community project to succeed. Furthermore AttWorld
encourages community participation in the implementation stages
of any community development project.
An effective community development endeavor seeks
to empower individuals towards independence and self-sufficiency.
AttWorld focuses on helping members of the community to see
themselves as part of the solution to their problem. AttWorld
seeks to do this through equipping and empowering communities
to generate solutions to their own problems so they need not
depend on government programs or external groups for help.
As a facilitating organization, AttWorld hopes to empower
individuals in the community to take on leadership roles and
lead their community towards development.
